Mikaela Perez, LMSW, MEd

Honoring the most human journey. Creating space for conscious, meaningful endings.

Mikaela (she/her) is a holistic death doula, educator, and ritual guide who supports individuals and families through the emotional, spiritual, and practical dimensions of dying. With a presence that is calm, intuitive, and grounded in meaning, Mikaela walks alongside the dying and their loved ones- offering compassionate care at the threshold of life and death.

Specializing in eleventh hour vigils, home funerals, and support for queer and nontraditional family constellations, Mikaela helps bring dignity, connection, and presence into the final days and hours. Whether sitting at the bedside in sacred silence or guiding chosen family through after-death care at home, she supports a return to more inclusive, community-based, and empowering forms of end-of-life care.

As a passionate educator, Mikaela also offers community education on the dying process, body disposition options (including green burial, natural organic reduction, and other emerging methods), and holistic advance care planning- helping people make informed, aligned choices well before death arrives. Her services are listed below.

Rooted in the belief that death is a sacred rite of passage- not a medical emergency- Mikaela’s work is holistic and inclusive. She is committed to holding space that affirms all identities, bodies, and belief systems, especially those often overlooked in mainstream end-of-life care.

Based in Albany, NY, Mikaela serves both local and remote clients. Her calling is to restore meaning, choice, and deep humanity to the dying process, with presence and truth. Mikaela is a trained death doula, as well as a Licensed Social Worker who works in the disabilities field, a sexuality educator, and a hospice volunteer. She enjoys learning, reading, traveling, theater, and birding, as well as spending time with her cats.
